This popular kayak tour will allow you to kayak the La Jolla sea caves and ecological reserve, which boasts an amazing array of scenery and wildlife you can't find anywhere else in San Diego. As you paddle alongside your expert naturalist/biologist guide, keep an eye out for sea lions, dolphins and even a Grey Whale!

Minimum age is 6 years old and they will have to ride in the tandem with an adult over the age of 18.

  • Expect to get wet, please wear appropriate clothes such as a bathing suit and shoes that can get wet (tennis shoes, 'river shoes' or flip flops)
  • Hats, sun screen and towels are strongly advised
  • Please do not bring valuables and things that cannot get wet
  • There is a weight limit of 250 pounds per single kayak and 450 pounds per double kayak
  • For safety reasons, the tour operator does not guarantee going into the caves on tours. Entrance to caves is based on ocean conditions, safety, and participants ability as determined by guide.
  • Minimum age is 6 years for a double kayak and 16 years for a single kayak
  • All participants must be able to swim

The team at La Jolla Sea Cave Kayak was awesome. Josh our guide was gracious, informed, and professional. From the check-in, through launch, through the caves and back for landing was a great experience. Conditions were perfect. Quiet seas and a bit of cloud cover to keep the heat down. Highly recommend this outfit as they were highly organized and professional the entire time. We did see a few other outfits with tours and honestly they were in a lot of disarray (even losing track of some kayakers). Be careful and read the reviews (especially the negative ones) of other outfits.

Every part of the experience was great! I was a little nervous going into it as I have never kayaked before but the guides were great before and during the experience. Made it fun, lots of interesting facts about the area and the scenery was amazing. If you’re even half thinking of doing this, do it!!!

Paddling out the moment I realized I was paddling on my own over the surf and Ryan, the guide had gotten me out in one piece in my boat! And there I was just going out to the ocean! Also seeing a sea lion up close. Ellie and Ryan were awesome kind and helpful patient guides!!!
