My partner and I had an amazing evening walking tour with Kurt Kramer of Gettysburg Town Guides.
The tour takes you (almost literally!) step-by-step through President Lincoln's trip to Gettysburg.
Leading up to the tour, we had a storm blow through the afternoon. So we weren't sure if we were going to be able to go. But Kurt texted us about potential scheduling options throughout the day and was very communicative – which was helpful because we were driving in from across the state. In the end, the clouds parted and we had a wonderful time.
Kurt is incredibly well versed on Lincoln's time in Gettysburg, as well as contextual historical information about the town and about the Civil War that makes this experience more much more rich than we were expecting.
One thing I appreciated was: at the beginning of the tour, Kurt asked each of us what our existing knowledge was of Gettysburg and Lincoln (on a scale of 1 to 10) and then proceeded to calibrate the level of detail to our level.
We could also ask questions throughout each stop on the tour and Kurt had detailed answers at the ready –– often including images and renderings from his binder.
If you are a President Lincoln fan, or just an American History buff, this tour is a must!
