Our trip started out great, we did a 9pm manta ray trip and the crew (Jared and Conner) were friendly and chatted with everyone. They hadn't seen any manta rays the night before heading north so We headed south towards the Sheraton instead. There were 17 on the tour and our first concern was that was just too many people to have on one board, it was super crowded and did not feel safe. You could not move, everyone was arm to arm and our side was heavier than the other side so. It felt like the board tipped into the water. There were 8 adults on one side and the other 9 people, but 5 were smaller children on the other side. Not going into many details, there was an incident before we got back in the boat and at least 2 people were flung from the board as the boat had to move forward quickly and then only half could board before we moved again away from some rocks and then the others were able to board the boat. Everyone was extremely shaken up (since it didn't happen to my family but don't want to give details on the incident) but it was a safety issue and the crew apologized once we were back on board heading back to Kona but not one word from the captain other than why were people screaming in the water. It came across as Captain Bobby's only concern was the boat possibly hitting the rocks and not the safety of his passengers and crew. The manta rays were cool, but we would not recommend Ocean Encounters/ Bite Me Sportfishing to anyone. Just a bad experience!

Beautiful experience with friends, the crew, and the animals. A massive ray came within inches of my face. The stars were magical on the open ocean.

The whole experience was unorganized and rushed. Standing outside and they are just guessing on wet suit sizes with no explanation or lights. Then pack on to boat with no instructions given on sitting, when we get to spot the young kid was helping people in water while the other workers were yelling at him to go faster, and then we could hear captain yelling at people to swim back that needed help cause they couldn't see. My daughter ended up on another board cause of the bad communication the one by the boat didn't get to have a great experience compared to the middle board at all but weren't allowed to move boards. Feel like we way over paid
