I was disappointed in the tour in the fact that we had absolutely no time in Marthas Vineyard to actuallydo anything. The problem was we sat ALL DAY because we did this tour. The shuttle comes at 6am, you are on that for 2 hrs, you get to the Ferry and you are on that waiting and riding it for about an hour (the ride on that was really nice), then we got there and was hurried on to our tour bus, where a very knowledgeable but very assertive tour guide, told us about the island, at one point he told the people on the bus not to talk because people couldn't hear what he was saying. He was rude and unpleasant. There are towns on the island, and the one you port into and Edgartown is the only ones to do anything in. We only got 50 minutes in Edgartown, which was barely enough time to get lunch and no time to explore the shops. The tour guide was verry adamant about leaving on time and being back at the bus on time or you would get left, and he was again rude about it. The next area we only got 20 minutes to get out and look. And the rest of the island was driving and sitting. We got back to the port area and got about 2-2 1/2hrs to get dinner and see shops before having to catch the ferry again for another hour of sitting and 2 hrs for the shuttle back. The shuttle and bus were horribly uncomfortable and had tiny seats. It was by far the most dissapointing thing on our trip. Super rushed, pushed in and shuffled like cattle. On the plus side, our shuttle driver was entertaining and funny. But I would only recommend this if are willing to sit all day long and like seeing the world through a window. We did not enjoy it and was very disappointed in the lack of time we actually got to spend doing things.

Thank you for the review although I take issue with several points.
OVERVIEW
We commence our morning pickups at 615am and are usually out of Boston between 630 and 645. It is a 75 mile drive to the ferry (we always try to make a coffee/restroom stop along the way) and we like to drop off by 830am. The ferry departs at 900am and is a delightful 35 minutes. You arrive on the island at 935am and have a little over 6 hours until your 345pm departure.
Remember the 3 hour tour is OPTIONAL and one that you chose. (It is also the highlight of the trip for a majority of our guests). You could have not chose the tour option and you would then have had 6 hours to do as you please.
I would beg to differ that our guide was rude to ask people to stop talking as he gave his tour. I would say the people that were talking were in fact being rude and inconsiderate of the guests that were trying to listen.
You have 50 minutes in Edgartown which is the tour's first stop 20 minutes after boarding and is not meant to be your lunch break at 1015am.
Of course our guide is adamant about leaving on time as he could have 40 guests on his bus and it is quite unfair to leave them waiting for other guests as time gets eaten away at their day on the island. Again a common courtesy.
Our 3 hour tour is usually completed between 1245 and 100pm at which time you now have 2.5 hours to do as you please.
As far as the shuttle bus goes, it is a standard size. I am 6-1 205 lbs and fit very comfortably into one of the seats. In hindsight, I would say that you most likely would have had a better time if you did not take the 3 hour tour option. Perhaps a bit more research into what you were actually purchasing may have made your day quite a bit more enjoyable.
