We booked a 3-hr kayak tour (10:00-13:00) for our family of 5, our 3 children are 15,21 & 23. Ben, our guide, was very passionate about kayaking and the area, its wildlife and history as well.
We stopped a lot and he’d speak about the wildlife, the history of the river and events that took place in the early years of Saint Augustine.. and the oyster islands right across the departure point. It was very educational and i liked his genuine interest in those topics. We saw dolphins and even sea turtles. Even though it was not out first time kayaking, He also taught us some useful kayaking techniques, which we used maneuvering narrow and shallow areas between oyster islands.
Some of is would have preferred more kayaking and fewer stops. Also we came back at 12:15/20 rather than ending the tour at 13:00.
If tou have young kids or older people that may not want or be able to kayak hard, the tour isn't very challenging physically so it is accessible to most people. There is a ramp for easy access to the beach area as well.
Overall it was a very pleasant and fun experience and the weather was ideal that day. Ben was super nice and knowledgeable. I expected a little more kayaking and to go a but farther out.
