Our “Maui Express Bike Tour” is a self-guided biking experience, starting at the same location as our guided tours. You ride at your own pace, stopping to take photos at your pleasure. When your experience has concluded, we provide transportation back to our office location.

Don’t bother with this tour. Check in was unorganized, we couldn’t hear the few things the tour guide told us on the way up the mountain because the van was overcrowded, the bikes were in very poor condition and disrepair (mine squeaked the whole time and my boyfriend’s made a sputtering noise that made us question safety). The tour didn’t start from the top of the mountain and ended in Makawao, not Paia as stated. The guide announced at the top of the mountain that they expect tips of $20/person. We rode straight down, then drove back up and had just as beautiful of views and enjoyed it. Skip the tour (or if anything, go with a different company - though I’m not sure how different your experience would be) - and drive it instead. We found far better views at the overlooks higher up on the volcano.

I don't believe that is accurate or fair. Haleakala is a special place to those who appreciate its unique beauty. The 700,000 guests we have provided bike tours to over the last 30 years would definitely disagree. You booked the independent tour that does not enter the park. It sounds like you should have taken the tour on your own and then come back down on your own. We follow covid protocols for vehicle capacity and are sorry for your unfortunate experience. We have the newest bikes on the mountain.

Beautiful, easy bike ride down the crater! Wish we had gone up a little higher to see the crater but overall had a great time. Staff was helpful and friendly too.

Our trip was on an almost perfect day. Dress warmly for the top. I Bobby kept us safe and on track as there are only three turns and peddling is next to minimum. The views are spectacular. I must do for almost any age group.
