Known for its art, each wall in Midtown tells a story.

Midtown Sacramento is a most vibrant part of the city! Among other things, tour guests will learn the intriguing history of murals in the city, while experiencing Sacramento’s current art scene. Guests will also try dishes from some of midtown’s finest menus, in an area of the city that has exploded with restaurants in recent years.

Along the way, we’ll pop into venues with farm-to-fork ingredients and farm-to-glass libations, all sure to tantalize your palate while filling your belly. Our culinary concierge will guide the group in and out of eateries while pointing out the sights and sounds of midtown in between.

Local Roots Food Tours limits the group size of each tour to no more than 14 individuals. Special dietary needs can be met with prior notice. Senior, military, and children discounts are available.

This tour was another great afternoon of learning, admiring, eating and relaxing. I love learning about the unique intricacies of Sacramento. Our guide, Cearra, was delightful, and is so knowledgeable about the history of the artists and the murals around this part of town. The businesses we visited for food were also unique, and contribute to a better world. I loved this tour!

Our guide, Cearra, has extensive knowledge of both the art and architecture as well as the history of preservation in Sacramento. That combined with her love of food made this tour a hit. Definitely come for the art and enjoy the food along the way.

My husband and I went on the Midtown Sacramento Arts tour yesterday. It was a small group as there was only one other couple. Ciara (sp?) was our delightful tour guide. She met us at the scheduled start time with our first sampling: tacos al pastor from Azul on 20th St. It was a great way to start the afternoon. The focus of the 3 1/2 hour walking tour was twofold: local art and murals, complete with plenty of background info AND sampling the local food fare in the Midtown area. We learned about the city's efforts to counter tagging by allowing individuals and groups the freedom and process to create beautiful murals throughout the area. We walked down alleys and streets alike. Amazing art projects! We stopped at 7 different food venues: Azul (awesome tacos!), two premier coffee roasters: Patchamama and Temple, Rick's Dessert Diner (we had our choice of any one of their fabulous desserts!),"Veg",a Thai-influenced vegetarian restaurant (Blue flower lemonade and two sample entrees), the Golden Bear Bar for pizza and beer. We finished the day off at Ginger Elizabeth's, chocolatier, with one of their signature ice cream/macaron sandwiches. Incredible, top-notch food choices! Everyone greeted us warmly too. Apparently, the tour company has partnered with several more local restaurants so the tours can vary from day to day, depending on tour size and food allergies, etc. Ciara is a very fun, articulate, knowledgeable and engaging tour guide. Having grown up in the area, she had lots of tidbits of info about the area. She made the tour totally enjoyable! The pace of the tour was very relaxed. The distance covered was not overwhelming at all (several city blocks via streets and alleys). We had ample time at each locale and didn't feel hurried at all. We started right at 2pm and left Ginger Elizabeth's at about 5:15pm. A FABULOUS afternoon! We enjoyed it so much, we are planning on bringing our friends here soon to try one of their other tours, though I wouldn't mind doing this one again.
