Our driver had a very good sense of humour, and was personally quite interesting, especially his music writing and concert delivery background. However, he seemed to relish picking the most difficult terrain along the road to the rim. All of us (5) in the jeep were 55+, and some 65+. Maybe people seek out the experience of having their kidneys crushed, neck whip lashed, and being thrown around like a rag doll on a rough and primitive road. Maybe that is an adrenaline rush. Not for me anymore.
I just wanted to get to the rim and view the scene for more than 2-3 minutes, before we returned on the same gut wrenching, are socket spraining, heartburn inducing trip back to HQ.
Maybe I am getting too old for this kind of side trip.
