Plantacja Whitneya
Poprzez te odrestaurowane budynki, eksponaty muzealne, pamiątkowe dzieła sztuki i tysiące pierwszoosobowych narracji o niewolnikach, Whitney Plantation oddaje głos i szacunek niewolnikom, którzy tu mieszkali, pracowali i umierali.

The N'awlins tour is really a convenient pickup at the hotel and travel out to the plantation. Our driver offered some commentary on the way out that was interesting. Once we were at the plantation, we were turned over to the site guides. We ended up touring the Laura Plantation because Whitney closed for weather. N'awlins travel made us aware of this and gave us an option to cancel. Many thanks. ' At Laura, we were guided around the plantation for about an hour. This was a canned tour. It did not offer in-depth information about slavery, the operation of the sugar plantation or the remaining artifacts. I purchased Laura Locoul's Memoirs form the book store on the way out. The memoirs are interesting from the standpoint that she was not interested in the family business and focused more on getting away from the plantation and being a southern debutant. I am reading How the Word is Passed. The second chapter is an accounting of the Whitney Plantation and how this site currently depicts slavery and plantation operations. I wish we would have had the opportunity to go to Whitney. This is more interesting and in line with what I was expecting. If you are interested in United States slavery and the Southern culture and plantation economy that perpetuated it, you should go to the plantations but be prepared with prereading. You'll get more out of the experience.

The Whitney Plantation describes in detail and preserves the history of 1770s - 1800s slavery at a Plantation in Louisiana. For that reason, it is my favorite of all of the New Orleans Plantation tours. I toured the Plantation in 2019, when there was a REAL guide. He was very, very good, and the tour was so much better with an in-person guide. He had an impressive knowledge of the history, and he answered all questions that were asked. The Whitney grounds and buildings are very well-kept.

Please go to Whitney Tripadvisor page and let them know that you loved when they had the guided tours. When they start seeing more reviews asking to bring back guided tours, maybe they will. Thanks for your review.
