This neighborhood and its cemetery tells the story of New Orleans from the Louisiana Purchase to the Civil War. Stunning antebellum mansions, lush gardens, unforgettable stories, and beautiful photo opportunities await! We keep our group size under 12 guests to make in a fun, personal experience.

We accompanied a walking tour on 12/15/19 with James Bollino as our guide in the Garden District. I can’t express enough our gratitude for such an excellent walking tour. James was so informative and entertaining. His stories along the way were funny and historically exciting. The way he told the stories made you feel as if you were there as they happened. We took this tour as a last minute idea. We are so glad we did. We highly recommend the walking tour of the Garden District with Lucky Bean Tours.

This is such a lovely review, and music to our ears! James is the master of that tour, and in fact his Garden District tour gets better every day! I am so happy that you toured with us and that you appreciate our style of telling about the history and culture of New Orleans through stories. The Garden District offers some of the nation's best examples of antebellum architecture and beautiful subtropical gardens, but it also holds some fascinating stories that are not only just plain entertaining, but also tie into American history as a whole. 3 history teachers and I booked a tour with James on December 7. James was fantastic. He has a command of the history, culture, and the modern happenings of NOLA. I highly recommend him.

Thank you so much for reviewing Lucky Bean Tours and recommending James! History teachers and history buffs are the people who "get" us and sometimes our most discerning guests. We all know how the interpretation of history can vary and that as soon as something is accepted as fact, new evidence is uncovered that changes it again. James is terrific. He knows the history of the Garden District and tells it in funny stories. The tour is very entertaining. Our group had ages from 15 to 81 and everyone loved the tour.

James is really the best at the Garden District tour. It is a grand, old, elegant neighborhood, and at first glance would seem a little stodgy, but behind the beautiful lawns and enormous mansions were people who led fascinating lives, who went through financial ups and downs, family drama, glorious heroic moments and embarrassing downfalls. And we are here to tell the stories - some tragic, some weird, but mostly funny stories that remind us, in a beautiful setting, that real life really is more interesting than fiction.
