As a young reader of many books, they often described the bayou so my bucket list included a boat trip down the bayou. Cajun Encounters was amazing. They tell you where to meet to get on the transport. Our bus driver's name was Kimberly. While she was not part of the actual tour, she made sure we knew some of the history and facts of the city as we drove out to the bayou. This trip is not disappointing. I understand that with these trips, the wildlife becomes accustomed to the boats, but that doesn't mean that the wildlife are tamed, they surely are not. The history behind the bayou, the animals in their natural habitat partnered with an incredible Captain made this trip worth doing a second time (when I go back). Captain Ryan's sense of humor makes this trip so amazing. Prior to our tour, he had caught not only a ribbon snake (eek), but a very small turtle. When we started the tour, he allowed the passengers to hold either of them (if they desired) and then drove to the spot he found them so they could be put back in their environment. Not only did we meet some of the alligators (Captain Ryan will ask what the difference is between an alligator and a crocodile, the answer is one starts with an "A", and one a "C") that they name (Lola is the only name I remember), but the wild boars...we had two come to our boat, ("Peppa" and "Snoop Hog") for food that the Captain had and Snoop Hog climbed up to the top rung of the boat to get closer. It was awesome!
