Today I convinced my family to come with me on the Catacombs by Candlelight tour.
I am a history/archaeology professor and human osteologist/paleopathologist. I came to the East Coast to attend the Paleopathology Association conference in Baltimore and then wandered up to NYC. So of course I had to see what the Catacombs in NYC were all about. I have been on a private tour of the Catacombs in Paris and although, this tour was different (no human remains on display) it was just as lovely and insightful (if not more insightful). Our tour guide was Lee and he did an amazing job filling us in on the history of the area, the church, and the catacombs. Sometimes, convincing my family to do things I am interested in is a little bit hard but I will say that they loved this tour and it had everything to do with the way the Lee presented the regional and church history. I would highly recommend this tour and although I have not experienced any of the other tour guides, if you can get Lee, he was awesome!
