This was a great way to spend a couple hours on Saturday morning to break up a long road trip. It was an easy walk but be prepared to do a little standing. Our tour guide, Tim, was fantastic! He shared several stories and his great sense of humor with us. It was a lot of fun to check out the architecture and learn about the history of organized crime in the area.

Tim gave us so much interesting Newport gangster history. He is the best tour guide we have had on a tour, even better that he had worked in this area for years and threw in some personal stories! He really made the era come alive and kept us interested & entertained for the entire 2+ hours. He was dressed as a gangster and we started and ended at the Gangster Dueling Piano Bar. Perfect!

The Gangster Tour is a definite “must do” in the Newport area. There is so much history in this area. I had no idea of deeply embedded organized crime was in this area! There is also some beautiful old architecture. The tour is an easy walk. The tour takes about an hour and half but I would allow for a couple hours because you will have questions (you will find yourself wanting to know more). This tour would be a great way to add a history lesson for the kids. A special shout out to our guide Tim Schaffer (pictured)! Tim was awesome. A retired teacher Tim is continuing his love of sharing knowledge through guiding the tour.
