The tour company was great, that couldn’t be more true, but the overall experience was absolutely horrendous. Had two of the best nights in terms of likelihood to see the lights and saw nothing. So disappointing. I realize it’s Mother Nature, but the truth is you’re better off going to Scandinavia or Iceland. At least if you don’t see the lights in one of those places you will have gone to a nice place and ticked off a country in the process. Fairbanks is not the place to be ladies and gentlemen.

We are truly sorry that it happened. But we think that Fairbanks is one of the Great places to see the lights. It is Mother Nature that we cannot control as you mentioned. When we started to chase the Northern Lights, it was Clear (Mostly Clear) from 10:00 pm to 2:50 am. Kp index was 4 and 6. They tried to explain the situation. It was totally unusual, which is Mother Nature. Our tour is 3 hours long as posted. But they did it for more than 4 hours 30 minutes. And the following day was Kp index 6 and 5. It was High (+) Activity and the weather was good. But the lights were not coming out, which is Mother Nature. Here is how the tour goes as posted on TripAdvisor and Viator: We will decide by 9:00 pm everyday how the tour goes because the weather always changes. We can’t promise to let you see the Northern Lights, which is Mother Nature that we cannot control. It is a natural phenomenon. The weather may change during the tour although we start to chase the Northern Lights because it will be clear, mostly clear or partly cloudy. Even though everything is good (Weather and Aurora Activity) when it starts, the weather always changes and other conditions may change. It will be the natural things involved, which causes a lack of lights or low visibility. We are sorry again that it happened. Blessings, Leah -- Alaska Journey Tours

I want to start by saying we know the weather cannot be controlled. The vehicle we rode in was a nice SUV. The driver was on time for pick up. At pick up there were 2 other couples getting in the vehicle with us. The driver did not acknowledge we had the correct vehicle. I have been on multiple tours and was disappointed in the interaction the driver had with the participants. There was no conversation and all we kept hearing was ‘we are driving to another spot’. The did try 5 different areas for us to see the lights. I was not disappointed with the lack of lights, again no one controls Mother Nature. I was disappointed with the lack of conversation and comments on where we were and what was happening. All we were told was ‘no green light’ and ‘new spot’ and ‘should see lights, conditions favorable’….drivers with more personality would have received a full rating even with no lights.

Our driver and photographer, David, was punctual and professional. He took more than enough photos of everyone and made the experience quite enjoyable and entertaining by rotating each group in and out for photos. He took us to 3 different spots to chase down the lights for the best photos possible. Two thumbs up for him and his efforts to make this once in a lifetime a positive and productive experience for us.

We appreciate your GREAT Review on Viator. Congratulations on your wedding and Honeymoon tour. We are glad that you saw the Northern Lights and had photos under the Aurora Borealis. Thank you for mentioning what he has done during the tour. Congratulations again. Have a blessed trip. Leah Alaska Journey Tours
