The Oak Alley plantation tour is one of the most magnificent plantation tours near New Orleans because of the 28 evenly spaced, huge Oak Trees that go from the river road to the Plantation House. The Greek Revival home dates back to 1837. Located on the grounds is a restaurant, blacksmith shop, Souvenir Shop and antique farm equipment. Next up is an airboat tour - hold onto your hat! Our New Orleans Airboat Swamp Tour is a high speed adventure that is part tour and part ride. Along the way, you will get a personal tour by your local Captain. Our airboats have stadium seating, so that the person in front of you does not obstruct your view. So, every airboat seat is great for experiencing the tour and viewing the wildlife.

We took the Oak Alley tour and was picked up at our hotel by our driver Brian. He is one happy fellow and made everyone feel welcome. He also thanked us visiting the city of New Orleans as the recovery of the town has been difficult. The trip to the plantation is about an hour or so but Brian told stories and kept everyone interested and laughing. The plantation is beautiful and the grounds, especially the 300 year oak trees are something to see. It was interesting to see how folks lived, worked and struggled in a different period of our history. Along the way, Brian pointed out other plantation homes and told which ones had been used in movies. Coming back into New Orleans he asked where each person wanted to be dropped off, hotel or somewhere else. That was nice as we had an errand to run on Canal Street and wanted to grab a Starbucks also. If you enjoy history, trees, and plantation estates, this would be a good choice for you.

Beautiful Plantation and our driver Brian was both knowledgeable and hilarious. Swamp boat tour was lots of fun and our guide knew where to find the alligators, even had trained one. He also knew a lot about the swamp vegetation etc...

The plantation and tour are a must, especially if you have never been on an old plantation. Very eye opening and beautiful. The swamp tour, though, is what really wins this combo. Our tour guide older gentleman and I'm so mad I cannot remember his name was simply amazing. He was funny and personable. Taught us a lot about the gators and had some great anecdotes to share with the boat. Educational and super fun!
