We had a great day at Oak Alley.Pick-up was at our hotel. The bus driver made the trip shorter with his humor. The estate is very beautiful and the tour of the house was very interesting because the docent was very knowledgeable of the house and it's period.Great tour!!
A visit to Oak Alley is better done by car. We spent more time getting there and back than we had on site. That's not to take away from Oak Alley. The tour of of the home is outstanding. However, there was not sufficient time to have lunch in the restaurant or tour the remainder of the grounds. I will need to go back a second time just to see the rest of the plantation.
Great, informative tour of the house - first owners and last. Our guide was wonderful - was not scripted, but very informative and just talked as if she were giving a history of her friends. This is such a beautiful place. Doesn't gloss over the horrors of slavery. You can walk the grounds at your leisure, have a mint julep, eat, etc. I'm so glad we went here.
