Our tour guide started us off with a potato donut that he had bought for everyone on the tour. They were very good and a nice way to start the tour. We had vegan soup at one place, sushi at another place and ended up with a lobster roll at the end. It was a very interesting tour.

My husband and I have done food tours before, so we knew not to eat breakfast before hand. Arrive hungry....and ready to eat. Honestly, don't plan on having an early dinner either. I'm not sure if every tour is identical, or if they switch it up....but here's how ours went: We started off at Maine's Pantry where we enjoyed Holy Donuts and some Moxie. I was SO excited that Holy Donuts was featured on this tour as I was not looking forward to standing in line. I personally loved the sea-salt chocolate donut. Moxie...you either love it or you have it. I liked it.....kind of reminded me of a flat Dr. Pepper. **Our tour guide cut two flavors of donut in half so we could try both flavors. I think it would have been better if the donuts were cut in quarters and each person ended up with half a donut total--they are filling and people passed up items at the next stop because they weren't hungry. ** After a heavy start, I was excited to have a Green Goddess smoothie from Blake Orchard (a raw juice and smoothie bar). I never would have stopped in on my own, but it was very refreshing and I recommend going. Then, we were off to David's. The food is FANTASTIC...however, it was too much food. We had a bowl of clam chowder, a blackened shrimp, garlic knots, and a slice of pizza....all at one stop. I ended up not eating at the next stop because I was SO full. Crab street food from Mr. Tuna was next. Like I said, I passed on my portion, but my husband really enjoyed eating his and mine. It was beautifully presented and was a great way to make sushi into street food. Then, off to Gritty's for a lobster roll and some beer. I made room for that lobster roll, and I'm glad I did because it was one of the best lobster rolls I had on our trip. They make them with just the claw meat...delicious. Our tour came to a sweet finish at Dean's Sweets for some chocolate...we ended up buying some to enjoy later that evening. Lots of interesting flavors. So overall, the food was fantastic and they featured some great places. My husband and I did not dislike anything they served...but some of the portion sizes were a bit large. Our tour guide, Janet, grew on me. In the beginning, she came off a bit disorganized and distracted, but as she got to know us, she became more personable. She had some great stories about Portland, knew the history, and personally knew a lot of the business owners. I would not recommend this tour for anyone with small children. Also, there is a descent amount of walking at a decent pace. There was an older couple on our tour that mentioned the pace was a bit much for them. The tour obviously has to keep to a scheudle, so I don't think it's a fault of the tour...just something people need to keep in mind before booking.

We had an excellent tour with Timothy as our guide. Having grown up in the area he was very knowledgeable about local history as well as local food. We got to try many different foods along our 3 hour walk. Would highly recommend! Ask for Timothy as your guide.

While we can't guarantee a specific guide on any given tour, we do have quite a diverse group of guides that each bring a little something different to the table in knowledge and personality, which makes each tour that much more unique. Timothy will be stoked that you had such a great time you referred him personally =) Thank you for joining us and your recommendation!
