We were in Honolulu for 2 days before boarding a cruise and wanted to get as complete a picture of Pearl Harbor as possible. We didn’t mind devoting the day and wanted to maximize the time seeing the attractions and not in lines purchasing tickets or finding parking. We were picked up at our Waikiki hotel at 8 am. There were 4 in our group and we picked up another group of 4. There was a driver and tour rep (I am not calling him a guide as they are not allowed to conduct an informational tour on the grounds of any of the attractions, so his role was to stay with us to purchase all the tickets and keep us on schedule to meet and move on to the next attraction). The young tour rep was named AZ and he was extremely pleasant and helpful. The other 4 in our group were older and moved at a slower pace, so we were free to move through each attraction at our own pace keeping in mind the time to meet up to move on to the next part of the tour. We arrived at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial where we had about 40 minutes to look around until we were scheduled to meet for the short film preceding being taken by boat to the USS Arizona Memorial. After returning from the Arizona Memorial, we had another 20 minutes to look around the Pearl Harbor Memorial before meeting to take a short shuttle bus ride to the USS Battleship Missouri. We had about 75 minutes here and then the shuttle bus took us to the Pacific Aviation Museum. Just a note that there are actually 2 hangers to see here, but it isn’t that clearly marked at the Museum. After the Aviation Museum the shuttle bus took us back to the Pearl Harbor Memorial where the USS Bowfin Submarine is also located. After the submarine tour we met up again with our tour rep and he took us back to our van. On the return trip we did a drive through the military cemetery and then a brief tour of downtown Honolulu landmarks. We got back to our hotel between 4:30-5:00 pm. It was a long day, but not knowing if we would ever get back to Hawaii we wanted to see as much as possible. We were there in the later part of February, so it wasn’t extremely busy in terms of lines etc, but I felt that the tour is worthwhile as we had no idea what to expect and didn’t have to worry about scheduling or where to go next.
