I had my first surf lesson with Mike Cao in Haliewa, and it was fantastic! He took our group out to an incredibly easy-to-learn surf spot, and we went as long as we could before the waves tired us out. He's friendly, understanding, and definitely someone you want to learn from.

We scheduled a surf lesson for my 50th Birthday for myself and three adult children with Mike. Of our group I was the only one that wanted to go surfing, the others were just accommodating me for my birthday. As we were all beginners Mike picked a beach with relatively small waves. Mikes teaching style and ability to read the waves ensured that we all got up on our boards the first or second attempt. During the course of the lesson he swapped surf boards and gave me a smaller one and one of our group who was struggling a larger one. He kept the challenges there and ensured that everyone had the proper equipment for their ability. For the next two hours we would paddle out to Mike who would either push us off or tell us when to start paddling so that we could catch the next wave. Mike also gave us advice on places to go and things to do during our stay. That evening all of my kids were discussing going surfing again before we left. I found all of the surf schools to be similarly priced and I would highly recommend Mike and 808 surf school.

Our 3 daughters (ages 8,12, & 16) had the best surf lesson with Mike! A surf lesson was #1 on the list of things to do in Hawaii for our oldest daughter and 808 Surf School did not disappoint. We had so much fun watching our girls learn to surf! Mike is an outstanding teacher. He is very patient and experienced. All 3 girls were successful in learning to surf...our 8 year old rode a wave all the way to shore on her very first try. We would definitely recommend Mike to anyone looking to take a lesson. We will definitely be back for more lessons next time we are in Haleiwa!
