This tide pool is a local secret. It's off the beaten path. A miracle of nature. We'll use a jungle/lava rock coastal trail. Each way takes 30-40 min (1/2 mile) (10 minutes in jungle, 20-30 minutes on coast). Only your group will participate. I'll teach you about the pool's ecosystem and the local environment. You'll also have time to explore/relax privately.

- Elevation gain on the hike offers amazing coastal views. Sea turtles are a common sight in the distance.
- The pool is like an infinity pool overlooking cliffs. The water is crystal clear. It's highly likely you'll be alone because this spot is so unknown.
- The pool is like an an aquarium with fish, hermit crabs, rock crabs, sea cucumbers, shrimp, snails, spaghetti worms, pink coralline algae, seaweed, shells, & cool rocks.
- Waves strike cliffs and shoot water in the air like a blowhole (conditions permitting). A once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity.
- The pool is calm/safe with a deep (4-7 ft.) & shallow (1-4 ft.) area.

Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
Wear hiking shoes, hiking sandals, or athletic shoes for the hike. Hiking shoes are most ideal. If you wear sandals, closed-toe are most ideal.
Wear water shoes at the tide pool. Closed-toe shoes with durable soles are most ideal.
Wear a bathing suit and bring a towel. There are no bathrooms at the tide pool.
Many people bring a snorkeling mask or goggles.
Apply "reef safe" sunscreen before the hike to minimize its contact with the tide pool water. Bug spray is unnecessary because there are no ticks and very few bugs or mosquitoes.
Some people bring a first aid kit because I don't provide one.

Really glad I found this experience! Gives you a taste of Hawaii from a locals perspective. The best part about this experience was that the swimming holes weren't over run with other tourists, it makes you feel like you're on a private tour. We only ran into 2 other locals at the first tide pool, and no one else at the 2nd Tide Pool (the benefit of having a local guide vs going through a tour company). The turtles were a bonus, I've never been so close to sea turtles I should've brought snorkle equipment. I've already recommended this experience to to a few of my friends too!

From tropical jungle trail to black lava rock and hidden salt pools. It was pretty warm hiking over uneven lava but cooling in the pools. Great pictures and shy crabs. Be careful on the sharp rocky terrain.

Josh, the guide, was very communicative about what we needed to bring and wear from the start of the process. He met us on time at the specified location. We followed him in our car until the start of the trail. The trail hike is not very long but very interesting with some wild Guava along the way ( that yes you can eat). It opens up to some rugged coast in which you hike to the tide pools. I recommend wearing closed toed shoes; something like Keens or a tougher water shoe with some traction. It’s not necessarily hard but a little bit of climbing so the traction gives stability. The tide pools are stunning and we saw sea cucumbers, crabs, sea urchins and other sea creatures. Josh was very relaxed and kind; checking in with us but letting us enjoy this magical place. Perfect guide personality. I was so engrossed with the tide pools I forgot to take pics. I hope the pics I have posted are helpful in your decision to book this awesome hike !
