I had a session booked, and the instructor gave me very little notice to travel over 21km to the new location. I had no way there. He blamed the swells for the location change - which is fair. I told him, not a worry, to simply cancel. But he then proceeded to be very rude, told me I “didn’t care for my safety” (I do, I’m not saying to surf in danger, just that i can’t make the new location so far away work) and informed me that regardless if I make it or not, he’s gonna charge me. He then threatened to take me to small claims court (over $150) if I didn’t pay. I’d say this business is probably struggling if they’re that desperate to keep customer money due to bad weather. I would advise you to book someone else with better customer service.

Safety is our utmost priority when it comes to giving a surf lesson. All of our locations on a normal day are considered safe for beginners. Sometimes due to large ocean swells a spot may be too big for a beginner to surf. This individual was notified of this the day before as we were tracking swells and conditions. This person could not accept professional advice that it would be dangerous to surf at that specific spot on that day. Our other spot was only a few miles north on a protected sand bar and they directed their ego and personal safety should sway their decision making and decided to cancel their lesson. We standby our safety and cancelation policy as we have been doing this for over 10 years and do not want to see you seriously injured.
