Pier A Park
Hoboken has transformed its former industrial piers into beautiful parks and promenades, with some bars and restaurants located immediately adjacent to the southern walkway. The largest of these is Pier A Park, which extends almost 800 feet into the Hudson River and offers a unique combination of sunshine, serenity, open space, and Manhattan views. The Urban Land Institute named Pier A Park one of the top 10 urban parks in the United States.

Hoboken is the birthplace of baseball, Frank Sinatra, and the zipper; key player in American wars, immigration, and industrialization; and former home to some of the 20th century's most advanced shipyards and factories, including Maxwell House, Lipton Tea and Tootsie Roll. We’ll discuss this history during our time together, and for guests who want to learn even more, we can stop by Hoboken’s quaint historical museum. (Please note that the museum is only open in the afternoon, and it is closed on Mondays. The $5 entry fee is not included in the tour.)
5
Stevens Institute of Technology
Stevens is a top-100 American university perched on a hill above the Hudson River. The campus includes Castle Point, which is the highest point in Hoboken. The campus offers still more spectacular views of New York City – including the Empire State Building in Midtown Manhattan, One World Trade Center (Freedom Tower) in Lower Manhattan, and the surrounding skyline. (On clear days, you can see north to the George Washington Bridge and south to the Verrazzano Bridge and Statue of Liberty.)

My wife and I are New Jersey natives, but have never been to Hoboken. So what better way to learn about and explore the city than with a walking tour. Greg was very accommodating and arranged to meet us at a location and time that was most convenient for us. He was knowledgeable, informative and flexible, showing us what interested us the most. I can’t recommend Greg and his personalized tour enough. It is great for New Jerseyans and out of town tourists alike.

Hoboken is a great spot to stay in when visiting New York. My wife and I like to do a tour in the city we stay. We were fortunate enough to do this walking tour with Greg. Greg was great. Tons of energy and clearly has a love and knowledge of Hoboken he wants to share. History of Hoboken as well as current trends and way of life was all very interesting. Greg went above and beyond and shared several texts with places we went and places we should/could go and helped us get a clear understanding on travel back and forth to New York. We would highly recommend spending a couple of hours with Greg on this tour.

Greg provides a wonderful overview of the history of Hoboken, recent and distant, through an informative and comprehensive walking tour. The views of Manhattan are incredible and it’s a taste of regional flavor another world from Times Square and the tourist crowds. Opportunities to nerd out on anything as Greg is so well-informed and interested in making the experience applicable to your interests. He especially focused on recent innovations in urban design and planning — Hoboken is doing things to its street network that are very progressive and forward thinking. Highly recommend for a change of pace and to see and learn a bit about Hoboken NJ!
