Despite a rainy, foggy, dreary day, Captain Joardan knew where to look and found us some humpbacks to watch. We saw some breaching, groups, tales, and slapping flippers, even a dead beached whale. It was wonderful to have only 6 guests on the boat, and a bathroom, all to ourselves, and we didn't have to share the views! Thanks to his wife, Mariyah, we also had the best hot chocolate ever, and some blueberry muffins. She was great even before the tour, answering all my questions, even about other tours in Icy Strait, and trying to find our friends an alternative afternoon tour when theirs was cancelled on that day. It was also fun seeing pictures of the monster fish that Joardan and his dad had caught, in a binder! It was a wonderful, personal, family run tour business who made us feel like familly.

If you're looking for a more personal whale watching tour with a local Captain, then this is your tour! The tour was nothing short of AMAZING! Whales, Sea Lions, Bald Eagles to name a few. All of the tour was fantastic but I have to say, seeing the whales bubble feeding, over and over, was the highlight for me. There's two ways to whale watch in Hoonah. Piled on a giant catamaran with a couple hundred other people, or a much more personalized experience with Hoonah Whale Tours. Book a tour with Hoonah Whale Tours, you won't be disappointed.

From start to finish, this experience was amazing! We chose this because of the maximum of 6 people. We wanted a more personal experience. Mariah picked us up and took a short drive to the pier where we boarded Thor Too. To our surprise, we were the only 2 on the boat! Jourdan, our captain was very knowledgeable and informative. Gave us all the pointers on his to spot the whales. They put on quite a show and we got some great video. If you’re coming to Hoonah, make sure you check out this amazing excursion, you will not be disappointed! Thank you again for an amazing day!
