This walking tour explores the art and architecture of Rockefeller Center. See sculptures of Isamu Noguchi, Michio Ihara and Paul Manship’s iconic bronze Prometheus, the most photographed sculpture in NYC. Heroic statue of Atlas just steps from St Patrick’s Cathedral on 5th Avenue. Learn the history of the exquisite, controversial murals painted by Jose Maria Sert and Sir Frank Brangwyn, as well as historic works by Lee Lawrie, Gaston Lachaise, Attilio Piccirilli, and Leo Lentelli. The Rock Center Tour Junior offers a guided experience of the sights and stories of Rockefeller Center for the whole family. On tour together with two guides, children (recommended ages 6-12) will enjoy an interactive adventure full of discovery while their accompanying adults learn about the rich history and architecture of the 12-acre campus.

Our guide, Matt, was phenomenal! He was so well versed in all of the art and architecture that we passed through and saw! He answered all our questions. He was personable and made tour very personal, though we were weaving in and out of NY streets and buildings. We took the tour later in the day, and the timing was perfect for the tree to be lit and Saks Fifth Avenue light show going on. This tour was very worthwhile, as it points out every day things that you pass by, but don't notice. You will learn the history and meaning behind all of the artwork! Our group thoroughly enjoyed this tour, and would take it again, as I'm sure there is so much more information to absorb! Job well done, Matt!

Rockefeller Center is definitely among the biggest highlights in Midtown Manhattan. It is great to see the Christmas tree, the ornaments, and all of the flags during the holiday season in the winter. It is also interesting, albeit expensive, to ice skate at the ice rink at Rockefeller Center. Previously, I toured NBC Studios and Radio City Music Hall, and I would encourage visitors to check out both of these sites. Please be advised that there is going to be a ton of vehicular, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic, so all individuals should be prepared for significant crowds. Also, people ought to be ready for a large police force and many vendors.

The tour guide took us around multiple buildings that are part of Rockefeller Plaza. Got to see alot of architectural artwork that has been in place for many years and we probably would have missed out on realizing all of it if it weren't for this tour.
