This walking tour explores the art and architecture of Rockefeller Center. See sculptures of Isamu Noguchi, Michio Ihara and Paul Manship’s iconic bronze Prometheus, the most photographed sculpture in NYC. Heroic statue of Atlas just steps from St Patrick’s Cathedral on 5th Avenue. Learn the history of the exquisite, controversial murals painted by Jose Maria Sert and Sir Frank Brangwyn, as well as historic works by Lee Lawrie, Gaston Lachaise, Attilio Piccirilli, and Leo Lentelli. The Rock Center Tour Junior offers a guided experience of the sights and stories of Rockefeller Center for the whole family. On tour together with two guides, children (recommended ages 6-12) will enjoy an interactive adventure full of discovery while their accompanying adults learn about the rich history and architecture of the 12-acre campus.

This tour was included (as part of 'The New York Pass") in the Top of the Rock Observation Deck experience. We do not usually go for this kind of tour (not being especially into art) but found this tour to be really interesting. Rodney, our guide, made the whole experience fun as well as informative. We would highly recommend this tour to anybody of any age. This was one of the best experiences of our trip.

This might be the tour to take if you want to appreciate the enlightened creators of the Rockefeller Center complex, provided that you live without going to the Top of the Rock. For all the years that I've spent in New York, I've never taken time to study the multitude of art work,s both inside and outside the buildings. For example, there's a stunning, massive mosaic tucked inside a covered entrance on 6th Avenue. I highly recommend this tour, but I hope you can avoid the tour guide we had. He did not articulate very well, talked too fast, made dumb personal comments to folks in our group, and rushed through the tour in about 45 minutes, instead of the advertised 75 minutes. I thought that the inside of Radio City Musical Hall was included, but we never got inside to see it.
