One of the earliest towns to be founded in California was Sacramento during the Gold Rush. Old Sac is committed to restoring historical structures so that we can think back on the past. People from all over the world relocated to Sacramento with the hope of getting wealthy. But a number of tragedies, including floods, fires, and a troubled history, cast a shadow on those dreams.

We will visit haunted trains, boats, and tunnels throughout our tour. Discover what lurks below the city's streets. Learn about the disasters that took place in the region during the early days of rail travel. Meet two businessmen that created this city during the Gold Rush and learn about a young child whose heart-warming story has touched people's hearts all around Sacramento. Rusty may seem a bit “rusty” when you first encounter him, but this guy is the most AMAZING storyteller and Ghost Tour Guide we’ve ever met. I didn’t even care that we didn’t encounter any ghosts (that I was aware of,…) because his History Lessons and STORIES about the REAL Old Sacramento were so very informative and interesting!!! AND HE WALKED BACKWARDS THE WHOLE TIME SO HE COULD FACE US. Absolutely OUTSTANDING. And we like our little Plushies too! Quality. Little Ghosties.

We had already spent a long, tour-filled day at the Old Sacramento Waterfront, and the Gunslingers and Ghouls tour was our last activity of the day. It did not disappoint. We used the Get Your Guide app, which had detailed instructions and directions to the meet-up spot. Our tour guide Rusty was great. He was personable and engaging, and easily as knowledgeable about local history as the more official guides from the visitor center and history museum, with stories and highlights you won't get on the daytimes tours (obviously). The walk itself was easy and relatively well-lit. Highly recommended.

Rusty Sterling was excellent! He’s obviously very passionate about his job and had a lot of fun little facts to share. Great to learn the “unknown” history of Sacramento and all the ghouls and ghosts it has!
