This was an OK tour but our bus was completely full and it wasn't especially comfortable. We made at least 8 hotel stops picking everyone up before the tour even began. The guide was very good and filled us in on local history and information.
I didn't much care for the "points of interest" of the tour. It would have been nice to spend more time having a look at the beautiful historic mansions, for example. Instead, we just zipped right past with very little description from the guide.
The 1st place they let us out to walk around was ridiculous. It was some type of theme park recreating the early Mormon settlers' lives. There was corny muzak playing thru loudspeakers, it was an uphill hike from the bus, and there wasn't time to see much. Oh, and a gift shop, where I guess we were supposed to buy things. I'm not sure what. Meanwhile the interesting statues nearby were left unexplained to us. This stop was extremely disappointing.
They also let us out at the Utah State Capital. The guide just sort of dumped us on the front steps and left us there. We all wandered around in a daze not sure what we were supposed to be seeing. The view was very nice, though.
The stop at the Tabernacle and the organ concert were very good, but I think you can actually see that on your own without doing this tour, and it's free that way.
The lunch stop was excellent. I really enjoyed the cozy feel and home cooked meal of the restaurant, which was once Brigham Young's kitchen! And we received a discount on our meal as part of the tour, so it was very reasonable.
Again, dropping us off, we got a tour of what must have been every hotel in downtown Salt Lake City. The group was just too big with a full bus. It was an OK tour, but for this price, it should have been a smaller group. Also, there should have been a separate guide and driver, not one person doing both. It was just too much for one person, especially with a full bus. I really got the sense that this was a money making venture for the owners of this tour company.
