The tour puts fun, adventure and culture on the San Andreas fault. Travis, our guide, went over the history of the cities in the desert area, provided nice information about the difference between this and other deserts in the US and provided incredible geological information in a nice, funny and interactive way which kept both parents and kids interested and excited all the time. We could stop for a quick hike around the canyons, learned and tasted how the local indians use to live. Amazing experience which I really recommend!

I was expecting 4-wheeling through the desert. What we got was an education of the area, while in a Jeep. We learned interesting facts about the geography, plants, native Indians and history of the valley. Our Jeep was clean and well maintained. Our driver, “Dick” was knowledgeable, friendly, and considerate, however he showed no enthusiasm and the tour was boring. We would have preferred more time exploring further into the hills and more time on foot, as we saw other jeeps passing us and others yet parked (where groups must have been off exploring). We would have had time for this, but for some reason even Dick seemed bored and we arrived back 25 minutes earlier than expected. I would recommend this tour, but suggest reading through the reviews and requesting one of the tour guides that is recommended to meet your desires. For the price paid, and from what we had heard, we expected a full 3 hours and some fun.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. I'm terribly sorry that you did not get the full 3-hour experience and have addressed this with your guide. While our tours are not off-road thrill rides, there is plenty of time to get back into the narrow canyons and explore either by Jeep or on foot. We do adjust the walking/hiking portion of the tour to the abilities of all of the guests in the Jeep, so some tours do have more walking than others. Nonetheless, all tours should include a stop at our natural palm oasis, walking tour of our recreated Cahuilla Indian Village, and plenty of time to explore the unique geological landscape of the faultline - including a walk / hike into one of the slot canyons in the area. This is not an adventure ride in a jeep in the desert -- it is a very well designed three hour experience led by a terrifically well trained, informative and engaging guide (John) to see and understand the fault, visit an oasis and learn about the Indian culture. Our guide was informative on the desert eco-system, the geology and the flora and fauna. The jeep was a hoot...open air and bouncy but operated safely. Getting in and out was a bit challenging for me with a bad knee but John was most helpful. I would suggest, if a member of your group has significant orthopedic issues, that you request the front seat, next to the driver, for that person. And the advice that this is not for heavily pregnant women or folks with severe neck/back issues, is probably apt. We also appreciated the cold water that was constantly available. We took the morning tour and by the last hour it was hot. All in all a great outing in a starkly beautiful and fascinating area.
