While I thought I knew something about LGBT history, Kathy's extraordinary knowledge and love of the neighborhood made this tour both a delight and a definite learning experience. Kathy is a heritage tour operator, and takes groups on this tour most days off the week. We had a relatively small group, and everyone was invited to participate, ask questions, and act as sources of information. While this is a tour of SF's Castro, it is also about the history of LGBT people everywhere, and the continued need to expand LGBT and human rights. Kathy took us to many of the important places in the Castro, including Harvey Milk plaza, the Harvey Milk school and Harvey Milk's former home and camera shop, now housing the HRC. Did I say Harvey Milk. He, and his contributions, are very much evident here, and much more than a documentary can show. I enjoyed every stop, and found the triangle park and seeing a portion of the AIDs quilt especially moving. My daughter, who is typically lukewarm about such tours also loved it, and was able to share her knowledge as a former HIV counselor. Thank you, Kathy, for an excellent tour.

My wife and I were visiting SF from England and had booked this tour before we came. It was a lovely sunny Christmas Eve.... there were 6 of us in total on the tour which made it really intimate and good for me as I wear hearing aids. I knew of Harvey Milk, but didn’t really have much knowledge of the part he played in the gay rights movement in the USA. It was very thought provoking especially when Kathy our tour guide explained the discrimination and existing laws today in the USA. We take for granted the rights we have in the UK... marriage for all and the laws in place that protect UK citizens from any type of discrimination based on sexual orientation.... I’m so proud of our little island after hearing that even today in many states in the USA a person does not have the right to marry, can getting fired from and can be arrested all because they love someone of the same sex. If you get the opportunity please take this tour as I’m sure it will be an eye opener as it was for us. Kathy is passionate about the subject matter and is a great guide!.

Many thanks to Kathy for this colourful tour of the Castro District in San Francisco. This was a fantastic journey through the history of Gay/Human Rights in the USA with focus on Californian. For me, it was a good reminder of some of the history that I have lived through and what came before. Kathy charismatically guided our group of 10 around the streets of the Castro for a couple of hours and skillfully included all members of the group by providing each one a voice. One member of our group was a bit of a know-it-all but this was handled well with grace and humility even with the collective rolling of the eyes of the remaining 9 on our Tour. Thanks Kathy you're doing a great service for the LGBTQ community.
