Dustin was the best tour guide/driver ever! First time in SFO and he made it the best ever. I would definitely recommend him to any and everyone as he taught us so much from wine to everything there is to know about San Francisco. Not to mention he kept us laughing the entire time! We are so happy we did this tour however with multiple hotel pick-ups we were rushed at Muir Woods (only an hour) and during the winery stops (didn't have time to walk through the vineyards at Ru Vango which was the only true vineyard we went to and that we LOVED; didn't have time for the "choice" tasting at our 2nd stop Muscardini which was a boutique winery that was for tasting and buying only; and the third stop Mayo Family Winery which required standing too long to listen about the bottling process and the "picnic" area was not scenic and rather "industrial"). We chose to do lunch on our own at Sonoma Plaza (there was no "breakfast stop" unless you count the option to get coffee at Muir Woods after you paid $15/person entrance fee and the hour we had there to explore). There were plenty of restaurant choices and time to browse in a few stores. We ate at "The Girl and the Fig" and did as the driver suggested to let them know we were on a tour so we were quickly seated and received our food/bill in a timely manner. This was a full day (12 hours from pick up to drop off) so time-wise we got our money's worth just didn't spend the amount of time at the places we expected. Rated this tour 3 out of 5 because of the shortened time as noted above and the winery choices. Our tour guide provided a lot of information about the areas we traveled through. I felt overall it was a good value for our first time to San Francisco.

Thanks so much for your comprehensive review. Yes, it is a full day to take in Muir Woods AND California's wine country in a single day but well worth it for people visiting San Francisco for a short time. The Girl and the Fig was a great choice...hope others follow your lead. All the best.

Let me be clear as to what this tour really is. If you are a wine collector, someone who wants to learn more about the growth of certain grapes, the distilling process, the various barrels used, and taste a broad assortment of reds and whites, while having conversations about hints of flavors and debates over the various aromas solely in Napa Valley at vineyards where mass varieties of grapes are produced, this is NOT the tour for you. Similarly, if you're looking for a few hours in Muir Woods, the opportunity to really explore the trails and spend a little bit of time enjoying the gift shop, this is NOT the tour for you. This tour is great if you're someone who wants to go to one Napa vineyard, an outdoor bar and a Sonoma distillery (which was the most interesting and had the best wine and actually took some time to explain the wine making process) and grab a handful of free blends while sitting outside relaxing. If you're someone who wants a selfie with a tree, a cool pic by the Golden Gate bridge and a tour guide brimming with jokes - do it. If you treat the tour as a long day uber that can get you to and from places and you don't put too much stock into the quality - go on this tour. If you're new to wines and want to see a bit of California but don't really care where you are or how long you stay or what the quality is - do this. I think they need to be very clear that you're really only going into one vineyard in Napa (that isn't very good) and that vineyard has gone above and beyond to only serve cheap blends (which they admitted themselves) due to the bottling shortage. When we asked our guide where we could go for a true wine experience, he told us he didn't know and his job was to serve the masses. No research, no additional explanation. So if you're one of the masses that wants to see the state and have some pretty cheap, blended wines - try it out. If you're a wine enthusiast and someone who wants more than 30-45 minutes at Muir Woods, go elsewhere.
