With 30 years of teaching experience, a NM Level 2 Art Teaching license, 10 years of experience as the founder and executive director of the Tarnoff Art Center(a 501c3) based here in the Santa fe area, and the current co-owner of Artful Soul Creative Experiences in Downtown Santa Fe, Laura brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her classes. As she is dedicated to guiding students on their artistic journey . Laura graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago, where she underwent a rigorous academic art education. Her disciplined training included studying the human figure and mastering various traditional art mediums such as pastels, oil painting, watercolors, pen and ink, and much more. Laura's own artwork is a testament to her vibrant and painterly style, ranging from tight realism to wild non-objective abstractions. Known for her "Figurative Abstractions," Laura infuses her work with emotionally charged colors, figurative distortions, and expressive brushstrokes.

I took a class at Artful Soul in Santa Fe. The instructor was Laura. She was awesome. We painted a scene of . I have done other art classes previously, but this was by far the most enjoyable. Laura was so patient, engaging and encouraging. She made the class fun and relaxing. I will definitely sign up for more classes at Artful Soul.

I love Artful Soul! As a local, I am lucky to have taken several classes from Laura and they are always a blast. She does a great job in guiding and encouraging me to try new techniques and ways to express myself. I am always pleasantly surprised by what I manage to create with her encouragement. Her studio is a wonderfully colorful, inspiring space, lined with art and equipped with everything you need to get creative. I enjoy going on my own for one-on one instruction, but on occasion I have brought my husband or teenage daughter along and they loved the experience too. I would highly recommend both locals and visitors, be they novices or more experienced artists, take a class..Laura has something for everyone!

I have been to a lot of paint and sips in my time. They have varied in quality, so I held back my expectations when my friend got me a ticket to the Santa Fe Creative Painting Experience at Artful Soul, Santa Fe. If anything, My first surprise was the location. "It's right on the Santa Fe Plaza!" I exclaimed to my friend when she parked the car. The Plaza being one of the oldest meeting places in the USA, a place where the Native peoples would come together to swap and trade. We enter a building where people like Gorman and O'Keefe must have crossed the threshold a time or two. This was no SoCal Strip Mall. This studio was the real deal. My awe continued when we walked in to see such an array of art on the wall. THis was no Kincaid cookie cutter artist shack. Whoever taught here was a master of more than light. Colors and forms bursting from each canvas. An environment where you can't help but want to paint. We entered the studio where the class took place. Our canvases were set up along with our subject that we were to paint. A fresh tray of snacks were laid out as well as any beverage I could think of to drink...from chai to wine...a true Santa Fe experience... Our instruction was incredible. Mickey and Laura were like their painting on the wall- full of life, art and knowledge. They have backgrounds as educators and it shows. I was able to paint in a way I haven't before because of them. My friend and I both produced a canvas by the end of the evening but we did more than that...we got to inhabit a special space in Santa Fe with women who give their heart to their art and to their customers. I cannot think of a better experience to recommend in Santa Fe...this is way way way beyond a paint and sip...it is a taste of what i might be like to be among the greats of this art filled city. Don't miss this one if you are in the Santa Fe area...
