This tour was absolutely awful. My husband and I have attended ghost tours in several locations including the Ghosts and Graveyard tour in Boston and we were so excited to take this tour in "America's Most Haunted City". The tour guide seemed very uncertain of the script and generally not good at public speaking and her delivery was very fast and difficult to follow. The stories themselves were uninspired and lost my interest on several occasions. The Low House, while nice, felt more like a gratuitous tour of a museum with very little "spooky ghost feel" other than some cheap scares by the staff. Notable sites like the cemetery (we buzzed right by with barely an acknowledgment), the Mercer House (probably Savanah's most notorious spooky tale) and the walk behind River Street (billed as the most haunted location in the city) were left out of the tour all together. There was little to no acknowledgement of the slave history of Savannah and its contribution to the ghostly aura. The trip to Perkins was nothing more than a theater production with cheesy jokes and cheap jumps. It was frankly disrespectful to the history of the buildings on River Street which have a dark history with slavery and focused on drunk sailor stories. They completely bypassed the legitimate scary and sad history of this city and that is a shame. To add insult to injury, it seems as though the tour was chartered by a group of young Girl Scouts as we were one of the few adults on the tour. The entire experience, as bad as it was, was made worse by the incessant chatter and squealing of pre teen girls ( I don't mind kids, but when I'm paying 70 plus dollars for a ghost tour and it feels like I'm sitting around the campfire at Camp, it's a bit much.) Maybe the tour guide toned down the experience due to the girls but we feel that if a young group chartered the tour, we should have been notified and given the chance to switch tour times. And we know it was chartered because the guide asked to see the girl scout leader who "booked the charter" at the end of the tour. I definitely will not speak highly of this experience.
