Dreadfully dull, terribly slow, nothing happened !
Most definitely not recommended !
Avoid !
I was excited to go on an air boat trip as I have been to Florida many bikes but never got around yo it.
But this was a massive missed opportunity and in hindsight I should have read the reviews and gone elsewhere.
The skipper Cap’n Becca was patronising and quite annoying,
She was quite dismissive to questions.
For example, my wife asked what the depth of the channel was and she said “to the bottom”.
The music was wholly pointless.
No mute available.
It was so bad I had to remove my headphones.
The utter drivel recorded soundtrack was nonsense.
The silly pirate stories were, well silly.
The offer was a guide, but the pre-recorded stuff was anodyne and irrelevant.
Considering we are adjacent the oldest city in the USA, there could have been so much local history and context shared given the Spanish, then British, then independence war, followed by civil war, etc.
Again, I expected some relevant context with interactive Q&A.
The headphones meant we all sat in silence as they were not headset, so we could not speak unless you took them off or exposed an ear and shouted.
It was all a bit surreal, surreal in an awful way.
I did not understand her odd helming at times with odd weaving and doing loops over our own wake.
Why ?
At 10kts.
Was she trying to make people feel sea sick ?
She did not ask if anyone had been on a small craft or if they were vulnerable to motion sickness.
That is important.
The the faux nonsense about losing passengers, why the false peril ?
The daft story when we did a multi-point turn to come back was pointless, just say the real reason.
The coming in to dock again faux peril of crashing in to the dock, when we were doing about 1 knot, why ?
I thought she was meant to be a brilliant shipper.
So act professional and brilliant.
Just dock, do it silently with panache.
I don’t expect to be on a boat and the skip calling left or right.
It’s port or starboard.
The give tips sign plastered on the boat and the almost begging for tips at the end is not how it works.
On the Audio Cap’n Becca was meant to be some amazing skipper, but needs tips, which is really odd because the pro-skippers I know are well paid.
So, in summary, this was a missed opportunity, with high expectation.
