My daughter and I took semi private surfing lessons through Maui Wave Riders. The experience was exceptional from beginning to end. We walked in and the staff were friendly and helpful right away. They helped us with fittings for shoes and sports swim shirts to wear during the surfing lessons. We were able to safely put away our gear and then we met our instructor, Starr. Starr is a true teacher and you can tell she loves her job. Starr showed us from beginning to end the etiquette of surfing and above all else safety. She showed us how to scan the beach for potential hazards and prepare for entry. During the lesson I felt confident that Starr had complete control of the situation. I watched my daughter surf and saw her confidence grow with each time she got up and surfed. She went from a concerned look to a smile during the entire surfing experience. Thank you Maui Wave Riders for the experience and a special Mahalo to Starr for giving us the best experience of our trip.

They cancelled our reservation without notice. Then when I immediately rebooked it they charged us a higher fee. Did not return our phone message until a week later - after we left Maui to come home. We had a family of four, including a 14 yr old and a 12 yr old. First time for them and even though we told Freddy, our instructor, that they were first-timers, he took us to a rough part of the beach where they got pounded and couldn't keep up. Freddy didn't do much other than yell at us the entire time, including when my leg strap got tied up on a rock and he slammed into me from behind. 3 out of the 4 of us literally left the beach bleeding. This was not a good experience and I'm not sure if the kids will want to surf ever again after this.

Great experience! My 11 year old daughter was very scared to try but Noa put her at ease and encouraged her to try. Of course she loved it. My 15 year old daughter also really enjoyed it. They got certificates when done and a cute hat. Would highly recommend this company!
