While staying in St. Petersburg, we were invited by a good friend to go on a sunset cruise. Always enjoying an opportunity to see the sun set, we said yes. This was quite a bit more than the average trip on the water. Captain Joe let us know about a great place to order dinner to be ready for pick up at 6:00pm, head down to the pier and board one of Island Ferry’s platoon boats and he let us know to feel free to bring our own wine and refreshments. We took his recommendation and ordered from The Island Grille and Raw Bar. We were off to Tierra Verde. Picked up our seafood and went down to the pier to meet Captain Joe. It was time to sit back, relax, have a glass of wine, and enjoy the seafood and scenery. Just 15 minutes into our cruise, we saw dolphins playing all around us. What we didn’t know was that we would see dolphins more than once on the cruise – what a treat! If you like birds, you will love cruising by the bird sanctuary and capturing some really nice photos. Just when you think the cruise doesn’t get better, the sun starts to set. If you get a little chilly, the captain has really nice blankets to cover up with as you watch the sun go down. Truly, one of the best evenings! If you feel like oysters, stop off at the Island Grille after the cruise to order from the raw oyster bar and listen to the live band. Enjoy the photos and be sure to check out the sunset cruise in Tierra Verde with Island Ferry.
