I’m finding it very tricky to review this tour. I agree with the latest reviews, there’s a morning and an afternoon, two halves of a day. The driver (who I prefer not to name ) was very professional and picked me up just after 8am. Then we picked up the rest of the group and he introduced himself properly. He told us how the day was going to be and that in the afternoon, we could either stop in Venice beach or in a more local place. He said it was our option BUT he also said he doesn’t like to stop in Venice beach because is too touristy (bit of a strange statement when we were all tourists) and is dangerous and full of homeless people. So in theory, he gave us the option, but in reality there was never an option. He was very very clear stating that he didn’t want to stop in Venice beach. Now, I understand the safety concerns. But I’ve been in tours all over the world and at the end of the day if I choose to go to a dangerous area, then it’s my choice and my own risk. I think the driver should understand that the people who use tour companies want to see the landmarks, and Venice beach is definitely a landmark. Or Santa Monica. Unfortunately I was on the wrong side of the bus so I couldn’t even take a picture of it. The morning was pleasant and we managed to see everything that was advertised. Please bare in mind that you will have less than 10 minutes to take a picture of the Hollywood sign. I’m not 100% sure if I can recommend the tour as it is. It would probably be more pleasant if a decent stop in one of the beaches was in the itinerary. The afternoon is just a long drive with a 15m toilet break. I would recommend the tour as it is in the morning, but not the afternoon, if that make sense. On a positive note, the driver was extremely acknowledgeable and shared a lot of history and interesting facts about all the landmarks and places of interest.

Thank you for submitting your review. Clearly the afternoon was not what you had hoped for. Nor is it what we would like it to be. Both Santa Monica and Venice have become difficult attractions for us to include on our tours. Santa Monica has imposed significant parking limitations making a meaningful stop there difficult if not impossible. Venice, is also a challenge. For the past couple of years, the beach and surrounding area has frequently been in the news for assaults, robberies and disruptions as the result of significant numbers of homeless individuals moving onto local streets and the beach. That said, we understand that many of our guests still want to visit the boardwalk there. The comfort and safety of our guests is our primary concern. We inform our guests of the situation at the beach as well as an alternative to Venice, Marina del Rey. The groups decision will dictate the route. The "too touristy" comment was an attempt to let the group understand that the board walk consists of about 12 blocks of t-shirt and souvenir stalls. The image of body builders on muscle beach and talented street artists wandering the board walk is, for all intents and purposes, gone, if it ever actually existed. Again, I appreciate your having shared your observations with us.

We were disappointed with parts of the tour as it was misleading, it did not deliver what was advertised. Although we got to travel to the places advertised we did not get to "see" them. The opening statement in the tour advert says "there will be plenty of free time off the bus" it also advises that you will get to see Venice Beach and Santa Monica Pier. We did not get plenty of time off the bus. We understand that this is a busy schedule covering a huge area but you should not advertise something that you can't deliver. Driving "near" Venice beach and Santa Monica does not constitute visiting these places. Advertising Beverly Hills and just driving through does not constitute visiting Beverly Hills. I appreciate that it is difficult to visit the famous houses but perhaps a 5 minute stop by the Beverly Hills sign for a photo opportunity. We were told that we couldn't stop in Venice beach because of a recent crime incident, so stop advertising it. If we had been able to stop at Santa Monica Pier for 30 minutes it would have made such a difference to the overall tour experience. The main issue we have is that you are falsely advertising something you can't deliver. Thankfully we got to spend time in Venice beach and Santa Monica Pier by taking a different tour with our cruise company.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know your thoughts concerning our tour. As you indicated, we cover a very large area in the time available. To be precise, we travel well over 100 miles during the 8 hour tour. We are subject to a number of limitations imposed on us by the various attractions along our route. The City of Beverly Hills prohibits tours from stopping on Rodeo so we had the options of driving down Rodeo, or bypassing it entirely. Santa Monica has restricted access to tour buses. Adding 30 minutes to walk on the pier would actually result in our guests actually being on the pier for less than 10 minutes. We opted to avoid Venice beach after learning of numerous assaults. Our primary concern is always the safety of our guests. To say that we are not providing what we advertise is simply not correct. If the tour you took from the cruise company included time on Venice beach and the pier, we can only presume that they did not include many of the attractions included on our tour.

Where do I start? A very good morning talking in Coliseum, Holywood sign from observatory, old LA and then walk of fame and Dolby Theatre (Oscars in preparation) and then Mel's Dinner on Sunset Boulevard. Great stuff. And then came the afternoon..... We were stuck on the bus ..... went to various places and drove past. Santa Monica pier, Beverly Hills, film studios were raced past as was Venice Beach. And then there was mutiny on the bus ...... our driver Roy got into a running verbal battle with several customers who complained as we could not stop anywhere and it got very uncomfortable for everyone. When we did stop it was at a random place with a few shops. I understand there is a lot to see on such a trip but it us worth nothing if you simply are stuck on the bus and only drive on adjacent road and don't even see the beach. Don't advertise what you can't deliver.

Thank you for sharing your comments regarding your recent tour with us. I have discussed the comments with the driver and realize that there are two sides to every story.. There are a number of places that we pass along the way which are not accessible for stops, but, we feel are of interest to our guests if only driven by. The safety and security of our guests is our primary concern. Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Venice have significant restrictions imposed on tour buses. The fact that some of the guests on your tour did not agree with the restrictions the driver related to them and chose to complain is unfortunate. But to say there was "mutiny on the bus" and that you "could not stop anywhere" seems to be a bit unfair. That said, thank you for letting us know your opinion.
