Venturing out for solo pleasure while my husband fields a work day, I decided to seek out the military museum per Savannah Trolley Driver, Gordon's recommendation. History is fascinating to me so this little gem was a fun find! The owner has amassed quite a collection of interesting items and it's remarkable he's so willing to share so personally those articles and objects for which he holds such affinity and affection. Enjoying human interest stories, his displays humanize the perils of war. Letters, artifacts, photos, stories and the like draw you in to investigate an Airman's Letter To His Mother, a Dog Tag Maker, Striped Uniforms from Auschwitz, Telegrams delivering tragic news home, old newspaper headlines, typed secret D-Day operations and a German Pilots Flight Cap with photo of wife & baby inside. I marveled as I digested the various stories and attempted to puzzle piece real lives together from the remnants before me. Remarkable! $10 well spent to capture glimpses into history which one man has collected (and in some cases saved!) to share with us... in most cases as the benefactors of their sacrifices. Well put together!!
