Jednodniowa wycieczka do Kanionu Antylopy w małej grupie z Phoenix

Przegląd
Hidden for centuries beneath Native soil, nature has built a cathedral for herself: a slot canyon still unsurpassed in its beauty, the perfect symphony of sand, stone and light, layered marble colored rock that is distinctly unique. In additional exploring Antelope Canyon with a Navajo guide, you will continue on your journey and visit Horseshoe Bend. A short hike takes you to the most captivating curve the Colorado River has carved out on his 1400 mile journey from the Rocky Mountains to the Gulf of California. At this sheer 1000ft drop, framed by massive canyon walls, the emerald green sparkly reflections of this ancient stream will surely take your breath away. Enjoy a local eatery in Page as well as a Navajo Trading Post along the day's route!

I booked this tour because I’d read rave reviews about the experience, and especially about a guide named Mark. Unfortunately our group had Nathan, who is better described as a driver than a guide. He began the day by saying he had no idea why it was called Antelope Canyon since he’d never seen an antelope there (a simple google search explained the derivation of its name), and so ensued a day of rambling reminiscing about his own childhood in the area but zero information about the topography or geology of the area we were visiting. In his own words, “You’re not going to hear anything today you’ll find in books,” so why let facts or accuracy get in the way of his long-winded storytelling? We were prepared for a long day of travel but his non-stop babbling and litany of dad jokes did nothing to endear him to the group. Choosing to have breakfast at a gas station was another mistake, instead of reliable McDonalds. Thank goodness the scenery and destinations delivered, but we would have preferred a quiet driver than an uninformed guide feeding us misinformation..

I thoroughly enjoyed the day trip to Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend. The sights were breathtaking! Mark, our tour guide, was kind, knowledgeable, and made sure we captured great photos. The van was very nice! Large windows for optimal photos, seats reclined, there were outlets for phone charging, and Mark’s playlist kept me singing along. Highly recommend!

How to review? An early morning start at 0525 to get the small bus (12 seater) to travel up to Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon was met with a very happy and incredibly talkative driver (Mark) for the longish drive up. Stopped for breakfast (McDonald's: not great) bad onwards to Horseshoe Bend. A magnificent view which totally matches the views you see in the internet. Then lunch at a chicken place in Paige and onwards to upper Antelope Canyon. Navajo tube operates the tours and after a wee bouncy ride in the back of a pickup you are guided through the canyon. It is totally as spectacular as the pictures portray. Amazing. Guides help you with pictures and even take some with your phone and they have the experience to do so, so let them. Then the LONG drive back to phoenix. 4 hours approximately. The roads are got great, bouncy, and uneven in places. But all in, the sights are worth it.
