During this excursion, you will board a state-of-the-art ECO-Star helicopter for your 45 minute flight. Your aerial adventure begins with a view of the North Rim as you fly towards the eastern end of the canyon following the Colorado River. Experience amazing bird's-eye views as you head south through the Dragon Corridor, which is the widest and deepest part of the Grand Canyon. You will also have time to explore the rim of the canyon by foot, capturing incredible photographs of the Grand Canyon.

The maximum weight limit per person is 300 pounds. Guests over the weight limit (300+ lbs) will be required to purchase 2 seats. This is payable direct to the tour operator prior to the tour date.
Arizona state law requires children under 8 years to have either a child seat or booster. Child seats are not provided, please bring your own and notify supplier
Minimum age is 3 years and guest must inform supplier they will provide car seats or boosters.
Wheelchairs and walkers are acceptable as long as they fold up and can be slid into the vehicle without assistance from tour guide. The helicopter cannot accommodate wheelchairs or walkers. You must let the supplier know if you are bringing either.
We do not guarantee pickup for all hotels. Even if your hotel is on the list, there may be a chance you'll need to meet at an alternate location. Any guest staying outside of Phoenix, Scottsdale or Tempe will be required to meet at an alternate location to be determined by supplier. Tour supplier contact details will be provided on your pre-paid voucher.
The Grand Canyon South Rim is a 7,000 foot elevation, please note this if you have concerns about altitude.
There is NOT a restroom on the vehicle. Comfort stops are made throughout the day.
You must let the supplier know if there are any mobility concerns that they should be aware of.
Minimum numbers apply for the public small group tour. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there is not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund
FOR LAST MINUTE BOOKINGS: Any tours booked after 7:00PM Arizona time the night before the tour date might not be confirmed. You will likely have to meet at another hotel for pick up. Our office will contact you prior to 6:00am on the tour date.

Route 66

After departing the Phoenix metro area, our tour travels through the expansive Sonoran Desert filled with the native saguaro cactus. The scenery begins to change as we increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As we continue further into Northern Arizona, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, the largest contiguous forest of ponderosa pines in the world.

Grand Canyon National Park

Just before entering the Grand Canyon National Park, you will be checked in for your 45 minute helicopter flight, spanning over 90 miles of the Grand Canyon. After your flight, your guide will bring you back into the National Park to discover more by foot. You will have opportunities to walk the rim, shop, capture an unlimited number of photographs, or relax with the best seat in the house. Your total time at Grand Canyon including the helicopter and walking is approximately 3 hours, with approximately 1-1.5 hours on the rim walking. Sometimes your helicopter flight happens after your time on foot at the rim.

I LOVED this tour !! As a young solo traveler I was scared to go alone to the grand canyon so this was the perfect trip for me! I want to thank ALDO for the great tour and giving us so much knowledge about the places we are passing along the drive. It is super pretty and the helicopter ride is worth it! Super pretty and Sedona is also great. Also, as a solo traveler I was surprised how many other women there were that were also solo and it was really easy to make friends with the whole group! Thank you Detours for being correct with us and the great tour !

Having never traveled alone and joined a random group for an event, I was somewhat apprehensive. However, the office staff was super helpful when booking and communicated the pick-up time and location very clearly. I met some fellow passengers at the pick-up spot and joined the rest of the adventurers already on board to start our journey. The small bus was clean and comfortable and easy to see the views all around. The highlight of the operation was clearly our tour guide- Ardo. He was knowledgeable and very charismatic, making the ride informative and also a lot of fun. We stopped at a few places along the way, and Ardo had advice for everything. He described the helicopter tour and had a few folks, including myself, sign up. And I'm sure glad I did! That is an experience I'll never forget! INCREDIBLE views and more descriptions and knowledge of some of the features. I highly recommend the helicopter tour. I can't say enough about our guide Ardo. His personality set the tone of the trip, and it was one of competence, insight and knowledge of all things related to the tour and stops along the way, and a lot of humor. I suspect all of the guides are similarly suited for their role, but I only know Ardo, and he's set the bar high. He even let us stop for a slice of pie on the way back- just one of many interesting suggestions that were made along the way.
