We've done the Trolley Tour in Savannah & Washington DC. It's the best way to get around, PLUS get information about the town you're visiting. St Augustine has a free "beach shuttle" to St Augustine Beach motels & the KOA. We used this shuttle 2 days in a row & it saves a lot on parking fees in St Augustine! It doesn't actually go to a beach, just the motels & KOA. The St Augustine Tour has 22 stops. The drivers are all knowledgeable & most are "characters". Some are pretty funny. The beach shuttle drivers are a little more laid back & don't talk about anything. They will chat with you however. You can get discounted tickets to some of the attractions at the trolley booths scattered around the city. These trolleys are NOT handicap accessible. If you have mobility issues you might have problems getting on & off. To get off you should go backwards like you're getting off a ladder. You'll get yelled at if you try to jump off when not at an approved stop. 3 ladies actually jumped off while we were still moving! The driver was NOT happy!

We generally enjoy the hop on hop off trolly tours. It's great to see the city and learn some history. However, the St Augustine tour was disappointing. The city is small, geographically speaking, and certainly walkable (we are both good to walk, but not forever and ever). I think the tour is less than great because the town space is so small - you really drive by the same things over and over, and there isn't much time between stops to hear much about the city. The drivers were good. I would pass on this one, put on some shoes, and enjoy the sites instead of spending the money. Too much $ for a short ride around town.
