I booked this tour thinking I would be stopping at the famous Powell Bookstore or be able to walk around Pearl District or explore the inside of Pittock mansion as advertised in the TripAdvisor website. To my disappointment we only drove past these landmarks. The site also says “...get your bearings with a tour of the city’s four quadrants, stopping to explore the shops, art galleries, restaurants, and bars that give Hawthorne, Alberta, The Pearl District, and other neighborhoods their distinct identities. Then tour at least two of Portland’s parks to learn about native plants and animals with your guide. You might explore wooded walking trails at Mount Tabor, walk the graceful lawns and ponds of Laurelhurst Park, sniff up to 500 varieties of roses at the International Rose Test Garden, or take in panoramic views from Washington Park, depending on the season. You also stop at Powell’s Books, one of the largest bookstores in the world, before being returned to your downtown Portland hotel....” That was also a disappointment because the majority of the time was spent in the van as we drove past these major Portland sites. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the City, good driver and van was clean. However I don’t believe it was worth the $79.00 for this tour.

We could be upset by your review, but your commentary is pretty accurate, and as you can see reading through past reviews, many of our less-than-5-star reviews owe their existence in part to inaccurate representation on other websites that are not fully under our control. Thank you for taking the time to quote from the webpage, as we'll be able to make specific updates and corrections - a monumental task for a small tour operation to keep up with on all the re-selling websites that exist. Updating the copy on the Trip Advisor page is now a top priority, and I'll personally be responsible for updating that information. We're sorry that this tour didn't meet your expectations, and we'll do our best to learn from your experience. In addition, if you'd like to contact us directly, we'd be happy to provide a credit towards a future tour in Portland, or at our sister operation in Seattle. Please ask for me directly. Best wishes in your travels, Jeff

Nice, small group excursion. Drove through major parts of the city. The guide was nice and knowledgeable. I wish more factual data about Portland was provided (population, trends, economy etc.)

While the pickup was right on time, the car was dirty, especially the windows. The tour guide was from Portland but provided limited information on the history of the State; or info on Portland was founded. The driving was not good. Four times she almost hit pedestrians and then apologized in the car. The neighborhoods we visited were interesting. Stopped at Pittock Mansion but didn't go into house, which was unfortunate. Did get time at Rose Garden, thankfully. Offered water but not bottled, reusable canisters. No way to know if sterilized after previous use. Didn't feel like a professional tour; overpriced for what was given.

We're sorry the tour didn't meet your expectations. It's true that we visit the grounds of the Pittock Mansion but not the house itself (it's closed at the time that we're in the park). As an orientation to the city, we hope we can introduce you to neighborhoods and attractions to which you might want to return, and this is a perfect example. I do need to address one point that you've made specifically: for years, to avoid piling up plastic bottles, we have utilized reusable stainless steel water bottles on tour. They are sanitized and washed in a commercial dishwasher after every tour. To decrease our environmental footprint, we also do not wash our vans every day, and even announce that fact with stickers inside the van, BUT, our guides should be dusting the windows before tours, and we'll make sure that is reiterated! Thanks for your comments, and we hope for the opportunity to serve you better in the future, whether in Portland or at our northern Base Camp in Seattle. Best, Jeff
