Myself and two kids ages 10 and 8 did the upper Pigeon River. The was our first rafting trip. Our guide Kyle did a great job and had us laughing all the way down the river. We went on a Saturday afternoon and all three generators were in operation at the dam, so the river was moving fast and the rapids were bigger than normal according to Kyle. I was a little worried about my 8 year old daughter being able to handle the trips, but she did great and wanted to do it again. Outdoor Adventures was well organized and their facilities were in great shape. The cost for the 3 of us was around $93 and then we paid the extra $30 for a USB drive of our pictures on the rapids. I had brought a waterproof camera to take pictures, but that was only good for the calm floats between rapids. It was a great adventure and has a hungry for bigger rapids.

We were in Pigeon Forge on Spring Break and I let my 16 year old talk me into going white water rafting. I am all for this type of adventure, but with the outside temp around 46 and the water around 45 I was a little hesitant to say the least ( we are from Florida where this classifies as cold). From the time we arrived until the time we left the staff was friendly and helpful. We were able to rent wetsuits and splash jackets to make the trip bearable. Upon getting suited up we were introduced to our guide Lacy who kept the trip fun with her local knowledge and jokes about it. After a short ride we put in at the power plant and started our adventure down the Upper Pigeon River. Lacy put us exactly where we needed to be going down the river, always getting us straight into the class 2-4 rapids. We were at the front of the boat and took the brunt of the oncoming water which made it all the more fun. The water was running fast so we were back in around an hour to take advantage of the hot showers (which did not happen to be working on the men's side but was on the women's). We had a great time and will definitely use this outfitter again when in the area.

What an incredible adventure! On 8/28/12 our family of 5 took our first rafting trip. We were visiting the Cherokee/Bryson City area and decided to drive the 1 1/2 hours for the class 3 and 4 rapids of the upper Pigeon River. It was worth the trip. A big thanks to Shane our wonderful, fun and informative guide! We felt safe and prepared for our trip thanks to him. Plus we purchased a DVD with 16 pictures that are wonderful. We hope to return again next summer.
