My husband and I took this tour on July 13, 2014 with Tom as our tour guide. Tom is very personable and funny, but also very knowledgeable about Salem, and being a practicing Witch, very knowledgeable about Witchcraft (or Wicca) as we know it today. Your tour will start out with a Wiccan ritual - a simple calling of the Quarters/Elements, asking for blessings of the God and Goddess, and a bit of a visualization. Nothing spooky or scary for those unacquainted with Witchcraft, and quite inclusive of many belief systems (Tom makes it clear that you are welcome to not participate if you are uncomfortable for any reason). You then are guided around Salem (to the Old Burying Point Cemetery and other locations) to learn history and lore as well as modern practices of Witchcraft. A very interesting point that Tom shared is what brought modern Witches to Salem, despite the awful association with the Salem Witch Trials. The Salem Witch Trials are touched upon, but the main theme of this tour, I believe, is to dispel a lot of the myths and misunderstandings associated with Witchcraft and Wicca. Tom made this very informative and fun and I would recommend this tour to anyone with an interest in or curiousity about Witchcraft.
