We walked the entire Freedom Trail and inspected various special sites along the route. So many choices of places to visit that the walk took all day. Lunched at the oldest establishment in the city. Enjoyed the cemeteries and historical sites!!

We had a Groupon for tickets (which is often available, so look first) which made it very inexpensive. This tour does a small part of the Freedom Trail, but you can learn a lot of history from it. The tour guides are knowledgeable and dressed in colonial clothes. We enjoyed it a lot. The tour ended at Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, which is a great place to grab something to eat!

So we decided to sign up and pay $17 each to have someone take us along the freedom trail in the character of Samuel Adams wife. Firstly they only took us as far as number 9 out of 16 on the freedom trail route. And secondly the lady babbled about so much information it was hard to take in. If I was to do it again I would buy a guide book and take myself around for free. The path is clearly marked out around the city with the red bricks, and it starts in Boston common near the tourist centre. It takes about 2 hours to walk it properly and to give yourself enough time to digest the history and information. you end the trail in Charlestown over the harbour at the monument which is free to walk up and gives you a great panoramic view of Boston. I would highly recommend it, but don't pay anyone to take you around as it's not needed!
