We hired bikes as part of our New York pass and took them round Central Park. The bikes were in good working order and the office isn’t far from the park. You get a helmet and a lock but no map despite what the NY pass website says. You can keep the bikes all day too. You have to leave a credit card authorisation and a piece of ID which you get back when you return the bikes, they take $1 which is non refundable. I would recommend cycling round the park, there’s a cycle path with fast and slow lanes and no cars. The down hills are very enjoyable!,

We used Unlimited Biking twice while in New York. First we went on a great tour with Chuck on the Brooklyn Bridge tour. Went across the Manhattan Bridge to Brooklyn and then back over the Brooklyn Bridge. Chuck was very knowledgeable about the history of the areas we visited. The pace was geared to the group and we felt safe the whole time. Second we took the bike rentals by Central Park and went for a couple of hours on our own around Central Park. Beautiful way to see Central Park. The bikes at both locations were in very good condition.
