My friends and I went back and forth on a handful of different voodoo/ cemetery tours before landing on this one, and afterwards couldn't believe how lucky we were in our decision making. 100% our tour guide Sean Byrd made it absolutely worth it, and managed to turn a pretty cold and gloomy day into one of the more memorable experiences we had during our brief trip to New Orleans. Sean was super personable and knew everything about everything, relaying information in ways that made it interesting and relatable for us instead of just being someone reading facts out of a wiki article. Highly recommended, whether you're genuinely interested in the history and workings of New Orleans voodoo; or you simply want an entertaining stroll around the French Quarter, definitely go with Sean and this tour.

Honestly - there's a lot of things I could say about my first trip to New Orleans. The most important, however, is to DO THIS TOUR. And hope that you get Sean Byrd as your tour guide. Not only was Sean super funny, well-informed, and a delight to be around, he threw in extra bonuses about the city as "fun facts" along the way. His passion for the city of New Orleans is apparent, and he speaks with such poise & delicacy regarding sensitive topics like slavery, religion, and murder. Sean somehow made a walking tour in the pouring rain and 50 degree weather enjoyable. We liked Sean so much we booked him for a second tour literally 3 hours later. The tour of the cemetery was kind of insane, and learning about voodoo and the deeper history of NOLA was a real treat.

Peyton was our tour guide and she did a wonderful job! Prior to the walking tour we stopped in Jackson Square where Peyton gave us the history and practices of the Voodoo religion. We then walked to St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 where she explained the burial process and pointed out several notorious above ground tombs. The most famous being that of the voodoo queen, Marie Laveau. After a break at the visitor center we walked over to see Congo Square located in Louis Armstrong Park. While there Peyton gave us the history about the slaves who gathered there on Sundays, their day off to celebrate with dancing, singing and music. Our tour concluded with a walk to visit the site where Marie Laveau lived along St Ann street. At the conclusion of the tour we were given the option to visit the New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum. I highly recommend this tour while visiting New Orleans.
