My husband and I were so excited for this tour on our honeymoon. Unfortunately, it was a complete let-down. First, the tour was overbooked which made the activities move much slower. A tour that was supposed to take 4-5 hours took over 5 hours since there were many, many young kids (who in our opinion, weren't fit to be on such a hike). If you are expecting 4-5 hours of activity go elsewhere. It's more like ~2hours of sitting around and waiting for young kids to catch up followed by a short hike and brief kayaking trip. Since they overbooked our trip, the tour guide spent a ton of time unloading and loading up kayaks, and my husband along with one other man were left to help him. (Our tour also started late because our guide couldn't find his cell-phone) Our tour guide Trevor was terrible. My husband and I were hoping for an actual TOUR, however, Trevor barely gave any historical or tour-like information, and was more like a guide to the waterfalls. He didn't keep the group on schedule, didn't seem to know much about the area and spent much of the time talking about "northern california" to a mother and daughter at the front of the trail line. Additionally, I was horrified by his lack of care for wildlife and conservation issues. On our way to the waterfall he approached two ducks (who it appeared like he had a habit of interacting with) and TOUCHED them. Not only did he touch them, but he encouraged children and other guests to touch them as well. Not only is this extremely dangerous to the fragile wildlife of Kauai (touching animals drastically increases the likelihood of disease transfer AND promotes habituation which can serious compromise the health and well-being of wildlife) but it is all dangerous to humans. Ducks are wild. They can transfer disease or even cause injury if they feel threatened. On the way BACK from the waterfall he pulled out a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and started FEEDING the ducks and offering the same opportunity to the children on our tour. Most people know that bread is EXTREMELY dangerous to birds. And Trevor even said, "I know this is bad for them, supposedly it makes their stomach blow up", and then proceeded to compare it to humans eating ice cream- which is totally inaccurate. The experience was shameful, and as a tour guide on Kauai is was his responsibility to be a steward of the land rather then promoting dangerous and irresponsible practices that severely harm conservation efforts. At the end, Trevor made a bunch of tacky statements about leaving tips because he works so hard. Overall it was a complete disappointment and not worth our time. In the future, I would just rent a kayak and do it ourselves.

This is everything advertised and more! Met our awesome guide Brian and drove to the Marina. We took the 7am tour which I highly recommend as there are fewer people on the water and the weather is much milder at that time. Brian got our kayaks set up and off we went. They provide dry bags for your water, snacks, phones, etc. There were 8 of us total, plus Brian. It's a nice 2 mile about an hour kayak ride up to the landing to park the kayaks. It's a very muddy, wet hike up to Secret Falls. You will cross a river by foot. You may not want to wear shoes you care about. Make sure they are sturdy. Brian had a stash of walking sticks which were essential for hiking in the mud! I lost my footing a couple of times. You'll hike through the jungle for about a half hour or more until you reach the Falls. Brian was so great about sharing tips and information about the area along the way. Once we arrived, we had about a half hour there. Enough time to have a snack and swim out and under the Falls, which everyone in our group did. Don't forget to wear your swimsuit under your clothes and bring a towel. Brian was great about taking our photos too. Then hiked back to our kayaks and back to the Marina. A highlight was seeing Brian feed the ducks who cleary know him! along the river and spotting 2 White-tailed Tropicbirds. What an amazing adventure!

Definitely harder than expected. The hike was extremely difficult for anyone with balance, knee, hip, leg issues. The waterfall was ok but nothing spectacular to see. The kayaking was fun but with a time limit you have to keep a steady pace or you fall behind- not for someone just learning. The guide did a great job pointing out interesting facts and was very helpful along the way.
