I booked the sunset dinner cruise 3 months in advance for a weekend getaway. My husband and I were really excited to have the prime rib dinner while watching for whales and dolphins. The day of the trip, I received a call around noon stating the sunset dinner cruise was cancelled. I was told that I could cancel the trip and be fully refunded, or we could join the standard tour which includes pizza and hot dogs. We chose the standard tour. We were very disappointed, but hopeful that we would still have a good time. When we arrived at the ticket window that evening, my name was not recorded correctly so we almost didn't get to go on the tour. I'm not sure how this occurred, considering I booked online and surely I know my last name was entered correctly. Oh well. We boarded the boat and all was well....until.... I went downstairs to purchase a drink. While at the counter, I saw people eating a nice meal so I inquired what they were eating. I was told it was the prime rib dinner, but that it was a private party and that I had to wait until the hot dogs and pizza were ready upstairs. I explained that I had purchased the prime rib tickets, but again I was told it was a private dinner. I went back to the top with a drink and felt very disappointed in the whole thing. The tour itself was great. The staff were nice, the boat was clean. We saw dolphins, no whales that day (but that is nature). The food was decent, drinks were reasonably priced. I emailed 2 days later when were home about being issued a partial refund for the trip. I didn't receive a reply all day, but then in the evening I received a phone call that the refund was being issued as we spoke on the phone. I explained that we were very disappointed about not being allowed to have the prime rib dinner. The customer service person apologized and stated that the private group was booked before I booked our trip. I'm not sure why I wasn't told this in March or why 2 people couldn't just have the food we paid for and sit at another table by ourselves. There were 2-3 large tables that were empty during the dinner. In all, the tour was great, but we were still disappointed. If we ever do another Cape May tour, it won't be with this company, unfortunately.

We bought our tickets for the 2 hour sunset cruise online back in March. We arrived at the location and were instructed where to park. Upon approaching the ticket window (35 minutes prior to departure), an employee stated that they were not checking in ticketed passengers yet. We went over to the adjacent gift shop to kill time. Fifteen minutes later we took a seat on a bench near the ticket window. About 5 minutes later a guy from the company makes an announcement that the cruise has been cancelled due to lack of customers. He stated we had about 11 ticketed passengers and there needed to be around 30. He was so nonchalant in his demeanor. I'm sure not such a big deal for him but maybe not so for the customers who had been anticipating for 3 months to take this cruise! We were told we could reschedule for another date. Being that we were flying back home the next morning that wasn't an option. Honestly, we wouldn't have rescheduled anyway. A company should not penalize paying customers due to a lack in sales. I'm sure the cost of fuel and man power would have out weighed the sales income that day but you make up for it on the days customers are bountiful. I was told I would receive a credit to my credit card and we were on our way. We sat in the parking lot for about 15 minutes deciding where to go eat (since the cruise had included all you can eat pizza and hot dogs). While we sat there we observed 4 vehicles arrive and people inquire about the sunset cruise. Who knows, maybe had they waited until closer to departure time, they would have had enough customers to satisfy their pockets to cruise. Thank goodness we cruised with Cape May Whale Watch and Research Center the day prior! It was a very enjoyable experience and we cruised with very few customers. As a side note, I went back on their website and no where does it state that cruises are subject to cancellation due to lack of sales....so disappointing.

We took the Cape May Whale Watcher Cruise, we sailed on the Spirit of Cape May. I cannot say enough on how much we enjoyed this cruise. We saw lots of dolphines, sadly no whales on this cruise, but that is ok, the dolphines and the sheer numbers we saw made it worthwhile. But, because they are wild, there is no guarantee that you will see anything. What if you dont? They have a Guarantee, if you do not see anything (no dolphins, whales or turtles), they will give you a ticket that does not expire for a future cruise. This is a fantastic cruise, and they also do other options, like a dinner cruise, and lighthouse cruises. This is a must do attraction when you are in the Atlantic City Area.
