My husband and I decided to cash in on our Groupon this past weekend and went on the "Big Watch" on Saturday, 9/17. We understood that the weather was not cooperating, HOWEVER, the boat was packed to the gills. It was completely standing room only on the inside of the boat because it was rainy and cold. They knew the weather going out and they surely should have limited the number of people going on the tour. We made reservations weeks ahead of time, but I'm sure there were others who just showed up. I wouldn't have minded it so much if we had actually seen more than a few dolphins. I think we were circling the same ones over and over again...maybe 5 of them. By the way, that's their "guarantee'. If you see a marine mammal, which includes dolphins porpoises and whales, no refunds. And with all the guests on the boat, it was extremely hard even to see those few dolphins. My estimate was there were at least 350 people on the boat. So this three-hour tour ended up being a three-hour waste of time searching for an elusive humpback and making everyone miserable. There were A LOT of grumblings all around the ship and everyone had the same disgusted look on their face. One last thing. I didn't get the kid's name, but there was a real punk working the snack bar and being a hand on deck. He was extremely unprofessional, had a horrible attitude, and when I asked him a question, just stared at me with a dumb look on his face. When we were coming into dock, he missed grabbing the rope from the pole and openly cussed in front of guests. He was wearing a blue Cape May Whale Watcher shirt and a Miami Heat baseball cap on top of his mop of long hair. So I hope management reads this and has a stern talking with this young man. The shining star of the trip was the older gentleman also working as a hand. He was trying his best to make everyone comfortable and even took trash from me at one point. One last warning: they allow smoking on the boat. Or maybe they don't, but just don't enforce it. Even outside, with that many people, it was really bothering me and I don't want to be inhaling smoke when I'm 5 months pregnant.

My husband and I went on the whale watching boat because I have always wanted to see whales and dolphins in their natural habitat. The cruise was so good, they explained about whales and dolhpins so it was very educational and we got to see dolphins and humpbacks. I know going on these cruises their is no guarintee you will see the whales but we were so fortunate that we got too. what an amazing sight the humpbacks were, it brought tears to my eyes at seeing such a beautiful mammal swimming gracefully in front of the boat. Words cannot explain what it is like to see humpbacks. I will definatley go back on the ship and even if next time we don't see whales it is still worth it because you get to see gorgeous dolphins swimming along side the boat and body surfing in te boats whale tail. I would reccomend this cruise to anyone who has a love for ocean life!! thanks so much!!! I cannot wait to take the videos I have of the whales and dolphins back to my class of preschoolers who knew I was going out to see whales. They are going to love the videos my hubby made for me because I was too excited and in awe to make them myself!

I felt compelled to write this review after reading reviews from many others in which they shared their disappointment and skepticism with not seeing whales on this tour. Some even emphatically stated that you will NOT see a whale. This is FALSE. Admittedly, I don't know how often whales are sighted, but they really are there...and you really have a chance of sighting one. We paid 1/2 price for tickets for a 3-hour whale watch tour on Groupon - me, my husband and my three children - twins age 10, and a 6 year old (who was free). We all loved it!! We took the 1:00 tour, and spent about the first 1/2 hour or so viewing dolphins. There were too many to count, and they were very close to the boat. That alone would have been enough to make the trip enjoyable for us. However, we left the dolphins and headed out further into the ocean to find a whale. On the way, we passed schools of stingrays you could easily spot from the boat, and even some stray crabs swimming nearby. There was always something to see. When we finally reached the area where the whales had been recently spotted, they boat stopped for a while for everyone to be on lookout. Sure enough, after a short time, we spotted a huge humpback whale. We spent about an hour out there with the whale. He was as close to the boat as one would be comfortable with, and gave us an amazing show! It was truly one of the highlights of our summer...just an incredible experience. An added bonus to this trip was our guide (I forget his name, but he is one of the owners). He was very knowledgeable, and it was easy to see he truly loves and respects these amazing creatures. I would recommend this tour to anyone...you really CAN see a whale!!
