Over the course of 90 minutes, explore some of the newest buildings around the Chicago Architecture Center, focusing on construction elements and their impact on the city’s built environment.

What's New looks at some of the most recent additions to the built environment surrounding the Chicago Architecture Center. This walking tour focuses on each building's height, structure, materials, ornament and its impact on the environment, the neighborhood and the city's economy. The tour showcases several recently completed buildings, including 462 N. Park and the St. Regis, and compares them to each other in order to observe emerging patterns. These new additions are also contrasted with some of the older buildings downtown as a way to highlight developments.

Our docent, Paula, was extremely knowledgeable, and full of fun and interesting stories about the buildings and little parks we saw. I was especially interested in hearing about the sustainability of the buildings, what is being done to protect birds, and about the amazing amenities of some of the residential buildings. We got to see a part of the city we hadn't spent much time in before and learned about other tours we want to take. The tour was an hour and a half, and the time flew by!

I’ve lived in Chicago my whole life and have never done a tour of the city before and will definitely be doing it again! It was such a fun and different way to view the city! Our guide, René was so informative and collaborative—I can’t believe how much I learned in just an hour and a half about Streeterville. I can’t wait to do another tour!
